Sculptural Silver Jewelry from Amsterdam

By AKOL STUDIO

Some objects exist before they are made. The geometry of a delta. The aperture of an eye. The fold of a plane catching light. AKOL STUDIO works with forms like these — shapes that feel inevitable once you see them, that predate the decision to make them wearable.

The pieces are silver. Made in Amsterdam. Made to order.

The Object First

Every piece begins with a form that can be named in a single word. A frame. A crescent. An arc. The geometry comes first — specific, resolved, not decorative. What the material and the making add is warmth: the slight weight in the hand, the surface that shows how it was made, the way silver catches light differently at different times of day.

These are not trend pieces. They are not designed for a season. The intention is that a piece made now is still correct in fifteen years — still the right object, still the right weight, still the thing she reaches for.

Amsterdam

AKOL STUDIO is based in Amsterdam. Every piece is made here.

Amsterdam has a particular relationship to objects — the city's design culture evaluates things on their own terms, without sentimentality. It is a good place to make something that is meant to last. The canal light, the brick, the iron mooring rings worn smooth by decades of use — the city already knows what it means for a material to hold its shape over time.

The Material

The primary silver is Argentium 940 — an alloy of 94% silver with a 1% germanium addition that makes it significantly more tarnish-resistant than standard sterling. No coating. No treatment. The metal stays bright because of what it is, not because of what has been applied to it.

Sterling 925 is used where the form requires it — clasps, chains, connecting elements. Argentium where the form demands it, sterling where movement does.

Both are nickel-free. The finish varies by piece — the surface always shows its making.

Made to Order

Nothing is made in advance. When an order is placed, the piece is made — in Amsterdam, in a four-week window — for that order. There is no inventory. No batch production. No piece that was made speculatively and then sold.

This is slower than standard retail. It is the right model for objects made to last.
